BizTimes Milwaukee featured Professor Nancy Reese, Carthage’s director of nursing, in a special “Notable Health Care Leaders” section that was published Dec. 9.

The 2024 honorees are recognized for “demonstrated excellence in their field and the ability to effect change,” as well as leadership in broader professional, civic, or community initiatives.

Since her arrival in 2021, Prof. Reese has helped the College expand the pool of compassionate healthcare professionals in the region. The thriving Bachelor of Science in Nursing program consistently ranks as students’ most popular undergraduate major, and graduates report a 100% placement rate.

In October, the Wisconsin State Building Commission awarded Carthage a $1.3 million grant — an amount that donor and trustee Tom Duncan then matched — to expand its nursing facilities and meet rising demand. In addition to the BSN, the College offers Certified Nurse Aide training.

Prof. Reese’s lengthy commitment to service totals more than two dozen global medical missions. She instituted a biannual J-Term study tour on which Carthage students assist at portable medical clinics in impoverished areas of Central America.

Congratulations to Prof. Reese and her standout Carthage Nursing team!
